Frequently Asked Questions

+ What Training Tools do I need?

We ask that all clients have a six-foot leash, a collar and training treats. If we will be working on leash work, we also recommend using a harness. In special circumstances, a crate, doggy gate or other materials may apply but would be discussed at orientation.

+ Can I sign up at the facility?

At this time we request that all clients make an appointment before coming to the facility: by phone (937.559.6799), email (rgtwedell@gtdogtraining.com) or by filling out the form field on the website.

+ How long do the courses last?

Standard packages are scheduled once a week for about 8 weeks. Each session is 45 minutes long.

+ How much does it cost?

GT Dog Training offers a more economical price for quality dog classes. Our prices are based on a case-by-case structure just like our courses. One size doesn’t fit all, so we work with you to only give you the parts of training that you really need. This means we only charge for what you need, and we’re up front about any additional costs during our free orientation. Contact us to schedule your orientation and talk about how we can create a program that fits for your dog, lifestyle and budget.

+ What do I need to do before class?

We request that an hour prior to your scheduled class time you allow your dog time to relieve themselves, and then ‘suit up’ your dog with their collar, leash and/or harness so that they’re prepared without distractions and ready for training when we begin.

+ What do I do if I can’t attend one of the sessions?

Life happens, and sometimes things are unexpected. Due to limited seating, we request that you cancel at least 24 hours before a scheduled class. This gives us the opportunity to fill the class. You may cancel by phone or email. If you have to cancel your class, we will extend the course an extra week to accommodate the missed class. If your cancellation is less than 24 hours in advance, you will be charged a cancellation fee of $50. Family and medical emergencies are excused with proper documentation. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.

+ What kind of training methods do you use?

All of our methods are based on positive reinforcement methods, we believe in training you how to train your dog. We don't beleive in using harsh, or negative training methods. You are taught skills to prepare you for any canine situation and help you build a relationship with your dog based on mutual understanding, communication, and consequences.

+ If I have more than one dog, does it cost extra?

Short answer, no. We price based on the time we spend working with you and your household rather than the number of dogs or people that will be present for training. However, you may need more time if you have multiple dogs within the home with different issues.

+ Can a friend and their dog join in our training session?

Absolutely! We love group sessions, however both parties would be charged as separate households.

+ Do you board & train dogs?

Yes! We now offer boarding or board and train services. Restrictions may apply, and spots are limited so call 937-559-6799 and get a quote today. More details about both services can be found on our courses page.

+ Do you board cats?

We currently only offer our services to dogs.
